AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - Michigan State freshman Keith Appling made the first start of his young career on Saturday against Oakland University at The Palace . The McDonald's All-American, who prepped at nearby Detroit Pershing, played his best game to date.

Appling finished with 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists with just one turnover in Michigan State's 77-76 victory.
