Michigan's ground game appeared to take a step forward Saturday, but still has a ways to go before becoming Denard Robinson independent. So what does that mean for U-M and the quarterback situation going forward?
Should Devin Gardner, and not Russell Bellomy, have substituted in for Denard Robinson against Nebraska?
In hindsight it appears that way, but according to sources, Gardner wasn't available physically a week ago, a lingering injury affecting his potential to take practice reps at quarterback. Bellomy, thus, was the only signal-caller that was capable of learning the game plan heading into the Nebraska contest, making him the only signal-caller U-M could use.
