OSU 26, U-M 21: Notes, quotes and observations

They say it all the time in golf - sometimes, maybe even often, par is good enough to win. Michigan played a double bogey back nine on offense, pulled out the three wood when it should have laid up and failed miserably in the second half in giving another rivalry game away, this one 26-21 at Ohio State.

With all due credit to an undefeated Ohio State team that played just well enough to win, it's become all too typical for Michigan in big games. The defense plays well enough to win, but mistakes and breakdowns on offense - six turnovers in a seven-point loss at Notre Dame, three in a 14-point loss at Nebraska and four more in Saturday's loss at OSU - prevent it, and they're now the biggest reason for concern going forward.
