Maize N' View: With Derrick Green, RBs could mirror 1997 unit

Michigan's running back production this past season was atrocious. Not just bad, but awful. The Wolverines finished with only 946 yards and averaged just 3.9 yards per carry. If five-star Derrick Green commits Saturday, expectations for his impact will skyrocket but he cannot do it alone.



On the surface, Green would walk into a perfect scenario. There is no established healthy running back on the team, with fifth-year senior Fitzgerald Toussaint recovering from a severe leg injury, and no other ball carrier showing he was much more than a fill-in during the 2012 campaign.
