Maize N' View: Big Ten needs presence in Florida, Texas
While the Big Ten's powers-that-be will convene this spring to discuss increasing conference games from eight to nine or 10, divisional realignment and more, there are swirling rumors the league is about to poach at least two more programs and maybe as many as four as it builds to a 20-team super conference.
With six openings to fill, if the Big Ten doesn't carve out a presence in Florida and Texas (or lures Notre Dame), it has failed.
The prevalent talk making the rounds is that the Big Ten is poised to scoop up Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Virginia and Duke, crippling the ACC in essentially leading to its ultimate destruction.
