2011 hoops prospect sets official visit
Playing on one of the top AAU teams this summer put Aaron White in front of a lot of high major coaches. One of those coaches was Iowa's Fran McCaffery, who liked what he saw from the 6-foot-7 forward from Strongville, OH and recently extended a scholarship offer.
"I'm excited about the offer from Iowa," White said. "They are a great school in the Big Ten and I really like what I have heard from Coach McCaffery."
What White is hearing from Iowa is about opportunity, an opportunity to get on the floor early on in his college career and that is very appealing to him.
"I think it is a good opportunity to play early. That's something Coach McCaffery has told me and he said he feels like I am a good fit for his system."
On Sunday, White's father spoke to Iowa assistant coach Sherman Dillard, who said Iowa would like to host him on an official visit on September 4th.
"I'm looking forward to the visit to Iowa. It will be nice to see what an official visit is like."
White came into the July evaluation period as a mid-major prospect, but thanks to a strong month of basketball with the Ohio Basketball Club, his stock continues to rise.
"I felt like the first part of the month I played more aggressive and got to the hoop more. I felt like I shot the ball pretty well too," White said. "It's nice that college coaches have taken notice.
In addition to Iowa's offer, both Penn State and Northwestern from the Big Ten are recruiting White very hard. The Wildcats plan on visiting him in September when an offer may be extended. In addition to the Big Ten, several Atlantic Ten schools are showing interest. That list of schools includes St. Bonaventure, St. Joe's, Temple, and George Washington.
The versatile three man, who can score from the inside and the outside says he is in no rush to make a decision. In addition to the Iowa visit, he would like to take a few other officials and would likely make his college choice before the November signing period.
