Breakdown: UW vs. Minnesota

Fresh off a somewhat disappointing loss to Notre Dame in the championship round of last weekends Old Spice Classic, the Wisconsin basketball team looks to rebound against NC State in the annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Before today's tip-off, BadgerBlitz.com analyzes the potential matchups between Wisconsin and Boston College to provide a closer look at UW's fourth game in seven days.

Quick Notes:

-Wisconsin's defense is limiting opponents to an average of just 54 points per game.

-With it's win over Boston College on Saturday, Wisconsin extended its winning streak over ACC teams to five. The Badgers have won games against Duke and Virginia Tech in the past two Big Ten-ACC Challenge duels.

-Wisconsin is 104-35 in regular season non-conference games under Bo Ryan[, including a 69-5 mark inside the Kohl Center.

NC State vs. Wisconsin
NC State Wisconsin Players The Word Advantage
Lorenzo Brown vs. Jordan Taylor, PG To say Taylor struggled from the offensive side of the floor in Thursday's tilt with Manhattan would be a vast understatement. The junior point guard only made one of his seven jumpers and finished with three points. Against Boston College, Taylor will need to play better offensively and stay sound defensively as he will likely be matched up with BC's best guard in Jackson. Advantage: Push
Javier Gonzalez vs. Josh Gasser, G Gasser completed yet another heady performance in Thursday's win over the Jaspers. He finished the contest second on the team with 12 points. It seems as though he's settling into his role as a starter in impressive fashion. Advantage: Wisconsin
Scott Wood vs. Mike Bruesewitz F Raji, who has started each of BC's past two games on the bench, is arguably the Eagles best player. He's rangy, strong and physical on both ends of the floor. He will be a major challenge for Bruesewitz and whoever else has to guard him throughout the contest. Advantage: Boston College
Richard Howell vs. Jon Leuer G/F Leuer seemed to snap out of his funk late in the first half of Thursday's win over Manhattan. Not only did he finish with a team-high 16 points, he also ripped down 13 boards. There's no doubt he'll be UW's go-to scorer this season. The question that remains is whether he'll have any help. Advantage: Wisconsin
DeShawn Painter vs. Keaton Nankivil, C Nankivil was off on Thursday afternoon. His shot didn't seem to be coming comfortably and he never really settled into an offensive rhythm. As a big man in the system, Nankivil needs to prove he can be a relied upon scorer moving forward. Advantage: Push
C.J. Leslie, Ryan Harrow, C.J. Williams, Jordan Vandenberg and C.J. Williams vs. Ryan Evans (pictured), Rob Wilson, Jared Berggren, Tim Jarmusz, Ben Brust, Brett Valentyn, Bench Donahue isn't afraid to rotate guys in quick fashion in an effort to keep them healthy. It's just that he likes to rotate the same guys because the depth off the bench is very minimal. Wisconsin, on the other hand, will likely see more from Evans and Berggren against Boston College simply because they possess a larger lineup. Advantage: Wisconsin
Sidney Lowe vs. Bo Ryan, Head coach The last time Donahue coached against Wisconsin he had a courtside view of a shooting exhibition that carried his Cornell sqaud into the Sweet 16. Though he's got a talented team, it just seems they haven't settled into his offensive schemes. UW is comfortable with its identity and the players know their roles so the edge goes to Ryan in this one. Advantage: Wisconsin
