U-M 38, Northwestern 31: Notes, quotes & observations

With rare exception, it takes breaks to win a championship. Nebraska writer Sean Callahan wrote that column (and wrote it well) after the Cornhuskers escaped East Lansing with a 28-24 win over the Spartans, following an improbable comeback at Northwestern and a win over Michigan in which Denard Robinson was lost for more than a half.

On Saturday, Michigan might have gotten theirs - or at least one that still give the Wolverines an opportunity in the Legends Division. On the list of improbable come from behind wins in Michigan Stadium's storied history, U-M's 38-31 overtime victory over Northwestern ranks up there with a triple overtime victory over Michigan State in 2004 and a rally from 17-0 to win on the last play against Virginia in 1995.
