Gone, but never forgotten
And just like that, it ends.
Michigan's 82-76 loss to Louisville in the National Championship game is nothing to be ashamed of, but still hard for a special group to stomach given how close they were to capturing the school's second national title.
Harder yet knowing the same group will never play together again unless it's in an alumni reunion game well down the road. Former forward Ray Jackson said during the Fab Five documentary there was a sadness following a 1993 loss to North Carolina in the title game because he knew something special had just ended - it's no different with this group, which was led by a group of unselfish seniors and, at times, carried by five freshmen.
