Hale emerging as future star for Spiece Indy Heat

FT. WAYNE - One of the top emerging talents in Southern Indiana, New Albany sophomore Donnie Hale is taking the next step in his progression as a player by playing for the Spiece Indy Heat 17-under team.

Hale, a 6-foot-7, 195-pound forward/center, is in his first year with the Spiece squad and gained some valuable experience playing in the Bill Hensley Memorial Run-N-Slam All Star Classic in Ft. Wayne.

Going up against players a year older and more experienced, Hale showed plenty of potential and heart.

"I thought I did all right," Hale said, during action at the tournament. "I had a little bit of a slow start but things are working out good. I think I've been showing what kind of game I have and I've been improving."

Hale displayed strong footwork and had a nose for the ball as a rebounder. It was easy to see the potential in Hale who has the frame to easily add weight and muscle and with added growth can be a significant force for a high major basketball program.
