Wolverines claim top spot in AP Top 25
The Associated Press Poll is in, and the Michigan Wolverines are No. 1.
After Michigan advanced to an incredible 19-1 record with Sunday's 74-60 win at Illinois - marking the best start in program history - the team was in prime position to take over the nation's top spot.
The Wolverines did just that Monday afternoon, as AP voters picked them over Kansas. It's the first time since the 1992 season - the Fab Five's freshman year - that Michigan sat atop either poll.
Michigan hasn't convinced the nation's coaches, who pegged Kansas as the No. 1 team in the country in the USA Today coaches' poll.
In the AP poll, Michigan received 51 out of a possible 70 first-place votes to dominate the poll.
Indiana checks in at No. 3, setting up a massive Big Ten clash this weekend.
The Wolverines will travel to Bloomington for a Saturday night matchup that will likely leave one of the two teams in sole possession of first place in the Big Ten standings.
