Hoops Recruiting: Devin Booker and more

Moss Point (Miss.) shooting guard Devin Booker is now one of the hotter commodities in the 2014 class, and he's being recruited as such. As reported yesterday (Feb. 20), Rivals.com's No. 23 junior nationally is set to take a number of visits in upcoming weeks.

Booker and his dad, former Missouri standout Melvin Booker, will visit North Carolina and Duke this weekend, Florida March 2, Michigan State (vs. Wisconsin) March 7 and Michigan (vs. Indiana) March 10.

Booker's mother still lives in Grand Rapids, where the 6-4 standout spent much of his young life. Booker once called U-M his "strong leader," but it's clear the Wolverines will have to recruit him to the bell.

"I've been talking to the coaches about the schools and they can tell you everything, but some things you want to see for yourself," Booker told GulfLive.com. "You always hear about Duke and North Carolina and the atmosphere, and getting the chance to see it in person is going to be great."

Booker averaged 22.8 points per game last season and 29.7 this year. He broke the 30-point barrier 16 times this season, posting a season-high 49 against Brewbaker Tech and 48 against Ocean Springs. His team finished 12-16 and was bounced in the first round of the state playoffs.

He has already visited Mississippi State, Alabama, Michigan, Michigan State and Missouri and considers this round of trips just the next step. He plans to take official visits in the fall before deciding.
