So this is our 24th straight seasons making the CCHA finals. Do we all realize how incredibly impressive that is?
The first CCHA championship happened in 1972, when OSU won, and this should be championship 42.
Michigan has been in 57% of ALL of the CCHA championships that will ever happen. Consecutively.
Michigan joined the CCHA with State, Tech, and Notre Dame back in the 81-82 season, so we've been around for just 32 possible championships. So 75% of the championships that we were even eleigble to play in, we were there. Consecutively.
IMHO, that's an amazing streak.
There's no way we will reach State's 11 Championships- and that's quite amazing- but our current 9 is 22% of all CCHA championships. All of them in the last 23 seasons (or a rate of 39% of the time we go to the Joe, we win).
Really makes you think why there's only one Michigan player on all CCHA team when our part of it is so significant. And it makes one appreciate what we have in Ann Arbor. Since every single one of the stats that I'm so impressed about has happened under Red. All in the last 24 years.
What a great program we have.

And if you look at the other 'elite' programs in college hockey....it just doesn't happen. BC is certainly the cream of the crop from a national perspective in the last 15 years or so, but they had some lean years in the '90's. For Red to maintain this for such a long period...remarkable.

To have that kind of consistency, especially now with the rise of WMU, Notre Dame, and Miami over the last few years, is even more remarkable. It speaks to Red's focus, commitment, and overall desire to make Michigan great.
Perhaps another tip of the cap should go to Michigan hockey fans, and how they've packed "Yost East" the past quarter century. We always play well there, and that's due in large part to the Michigan fanbase.

Rico was just tweeting about how impressive it was that their seniors made it to the Joe all 4 years. It was the first class in Miami history to accomplish that. Michigan has had 21 senior classes accomplish that feat. In a row.
